Two
years of research and efforts were necessary before
introducing Alliance in the manufacturing lines of the Kenosha plant.
Only
the engines, gear boxes and suspensions units came from France, the
remainder is made in the US. We are now
in June 1982, Alliance enters production, the objective sales of
100.000 cars between September 1982 and September 1983 is reached 3
months earlier, Encore, the hatchback version of the Alliance is
added to the range. The American Magazine Motor Trend gives the 1983
"Car of the Year" award to the Alliance. All goes well for AMC, the
firm joins again with the benefit, the “AMC Dealers” offer
French
champagne and Wisconsin cheese to symbolize this partnership. With this success, the leaders study the production of a convertible
